Tip #6 Importance of Deep Conditioning

Who cares what anyone says you regular conditioner that you have that matches your shampoo so lovely is not helping your hair as much as it should. YOU need a DEEP CONDITIONER! Normally you are technically supposed to get one at least once a month just to replenish you hair with all of the things that you are stripping out of it. There are two types when used in the salon. One for moisture and one for strength. You experienced stylist can tell you which one is needed most for you hair to get it to a more healthier state. Depending on the hair problem will depend on what I recommend of course but if you are just doing you regular maintenance I would most likely tell you that is you are only doing the once a month. One month do strength one month do moisture. If possible do both in a month if hair is at a healthier state. But if you really are having problems use the on that helps most only until problem is solved.

Tip #5 Ways to Volumize Hair

I am going to list these by intensity:

1. Go to bed with a dry ponytail in the top center of you head.

2. Go to bed with a wet ponytail in the top center of you head.

3. Blow drying the roots of your hair upside down then the rest.

4. Spraying root lifter at the roots of the section you want to lift while wet then with the round brush blow dry while overdirectiong the brush forward so by the time it is dry and your hair goes back you will have lift.

5. Curl the to section with a big or small depending on you curling iron. then comb out the curl.

6. Spraying alittle hairspray at the back of the section at the roots, let it dry then put you flat iron on the section holding it for a while alittle past the root area then continuing down the rest of the hair. Once cooled comb out gently.

7. Spray hairspray at the back of the section at the roots, backcomb, spray again to set let dry then smooth so backcombing will not show.

8. Spray hairspray at the back of the section at the roots, backcomb, put you flat iron to it and begin pulling up holding it for a few seconds at the alittle past the root area then continue to the ends, spray again to set let dry and cool then smooth so backcombing will not show.

9. Get a PERMANENT WAVE!

Tip #4 General To-Do's

1. Women to maintain good hair care you should get at least one deep condition a month.

2. Women and Men with moderate to long hair should at least get their hair trimmed every 6 weeks. So about a month and a half.

3. Men with very short hair that cut with clippers need to come in about every 2 weeks.

4. Women with short hair need to get their hair cut every month.

4. Men just because you have short hair does not mean you do not have to shampoo and condition. Because it is still need to maintain a healthy scalp and balance you ph. manufactures do make a 2-1 Shampoo and Conditioner.

5. People with thinning hair especially women need to at least cut it to shoulder with layers in it. Shorter if possible.

6. Men just because you are balding does not mean cut all your hair off it is more maintaince. So just get it trimmed up nicely to fit you face type.

7. If you are bald you should get you hair cut at least every week.

8. Always put some kind of heat protectant on you hair before blow drying.

9. Always put a heat protectant on you hair before flat ironing it.

10. If regular conditioner weighs your hair down use a leave-in spray conditioner.

Tip #3 Thin Hair

This is not exactly a hair care tip. Just a general tip about hair. However I will give tips on thin and thinning hair on a later date. But ladies and gentlemen, I do not care how much you like it or love it. I do not even care how long it took you to grow it. Thin long hair is not at all attractive at all. The main things your hair needs is alittle volume, cutting, and layering. I promise if you do you will actually look younger and I promise you will be alot happier. You will also be able to do more with you hair. And if you are dreading cutting it really short at least go alittle bit below shoulder.

Tip #2 Over the Counter VS. Professinal Products

Everyone loves the shampoo that smells like spring flowers and all of that great stuff. But when push comes to shove what we like to call over the counter shampoo and conditioner and other hair care products are not the best items to put on you hair. I like to tell clients that if they really hate professional prices go to sally's they are the next best thing. Most of the time salon prices are not as bad as they seem. Over the counter products tend to have alot of wax in them so you can get the shine that you see on tv. In reality all the wax does is coat layer after layer on your hair and creates a film that slowly chokes you hair. So while you are thinking you hair is very shiny, then you start saying your hair is very oily, then you go to my hair is oily but dry. It is actually he wax build up that you can easily get rid of by clarifying it. So with that said going pro is not a bad idea since pro products are very concentrated so you need less product saving you money. And be smart about shop around many salons have sale periods on certain brands every month or quarter. Some even have coupons like Ulta. But let me caution you NEVER, NEVER, NEVER buy pro at any place that is not a professional salon. Because most of the time when you see Bed Head and Paul Mitchell at Walmart or Cvs places like that, THEY ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO BE THERE. Most of the time they are old products, sometimes they are watered down, and alot of the time the prices are higher than in the salon. PLUS most manufactures will not back the product if not in a salon. They do not authorize the sale of their products in places like that, only a certified professional can even order it. So nine out of ten it was stolen or a pro bought it and sold it to Walmart which is also illegal I think.

Tip #1 Drying Hair

Anytime you are blow drying your hair you always need to have some kind of heat protectant on you hair previous to the service to prevent damage to you hair. Also it is ideal to dry hair on a low heat setting and not to set it on full blast its is less damaging on your hair; even though it takes longer to dry your hair. Lastly always give you hair a break on the weekends when you are laying around the house let your hair air dry. You already put enough heat on it through the week try giving it a break on the weekends when you can.

Some protectants I like are:
Bed Head Superstar Blow Dry Lotion
Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Serum
Silk Elements Mega Silk Heat Protection (@ Sally's Beauty Supply)
And of Course
Fantastic Sam's Thermal Guard ( Which happens to be really good, seriously)

* Word of caution there are way more products out there that you can use and that I have tried these are just the main ones I personally like to use. But also I have not tried everything and I am very open to try other items. Also depending on the clients hair texture depends on the product I use. Everything is NOT for everyone.*
